Dewatering Screens and Hydrocyclone Systems

The most important factors determining the final quality and commercial value of sand produced in washing facilities are its moisture content and the amount of fine material it contains. STS Global Machinery Dewatering Screens and Hydrocyclone Systems are integrated engineering solutions designed to optimize these two critical parameters. These systems reduce washed sand to a moisture content as low as 12-15%, making it ready for storage and immediate shipment. They also recover the very fine and valuable sand particles, such as 50 microns, that are lost with the washing water.

Working Principle: Two-Stage Efficiency

The system provides maximum efficiency by operating in two basic stages:

  1. Fine Material Recovery with Hydrocyclone: The sand and water mixture (slurry) resulting from the washing process is fed at high pressure through the tangential inlet of the hydrocyclone. This creates a high-speed vortex within the cyclone. Due to centrifugal force, the more dense sand grains are thrown against the inner walls of the cyclone and spiral toward the underflow. The lighter water and very fine particles (slurry) below 50 microns move upwards in the center of the vortex and are discharged through the overflow. This allows the commercially valuable fine sand to be separated from the wastewater and recovered.
  2. Moisture Removal with Dewatering Sieve: Moist sand from the bottom of the hydrocyclone is poured onto a dewatering screen, which is positioned at a specific upward incline. The linear vibration generated by two high-frequency vibrating motors compresses the sand grains and forces them to move uphill across the screen surface. This compression and vibration force the water between the grains to the surface and separates through specially designed polyurethane screen panels. As a result, a drip-free final product is obtained at the screen outlet, with moisture content reduced to 12-15%, ready for storage.

Key Benefits

  • Low Humidity: It makes the final product ready for storage and immediate shipment with a moisture content of 12-15%.
  • Maximum Recovery: It prevents product loss and increases profitability by recovering valuable fine material down to 50 microns.
  • Water Saving: It reduces water consumption and operating costs by recycling a large portion of the wash water.
  • Durable Structure: All surfaces exposed to wear are covered with rubber, and the screen panels are made of long-lasting polyurethane.
  • Low Operating Cost: It offers low operating costs in the long term thanks to its efficient working principle and durable parts.
