• An eccentric shaft is rotated by a heavy flywheel. This motion moves the movable jaw, called the pitman, forward and downward in an elliptical orbit.
• The material is fed from the upper part of the crusher and falls into the V-shaped crushing chamber.
• The movable jaw compresses the material against the fixed jaw, applying high pressure and breaking the material.
• When the moving jaw retracts, the crushed material is forced downward by gravity. This cycle of compression and release continues until the material is large enough to pass through the adjustable outlet opening at the bottom of the crusher.
